How To Write a Good Title?

Article Title

Why Is Title Important?

Page title (or article title) is one of the most important parts of the page to optimize if you want to get more traffic and a better conversion rate.

On Page Optimization – using keywords you're trying to rank for (basic definition)

Conversion Rate – percent of visitors that take desired action (click the link, buy,…)

You might have a fantastic post/article but if you have a poor title you will only get a little fraction of the potential traffic. Your first 3 to 5 words can have a huge impact. There many suggestions that can greatly improve your conversion rate. I will emphasize on most important techniques.

Benefit-Oriented

How To Write A Good Title

Your marketing articles must be primarily centered on the interests of your visitors. Therefore, when you create the title, indicate what visitors get and can benefit from rather than what they must do or actions they should take.

Have your audience feel like they will benefit and get something when they visit your page. A good technique is to use words like "get," "find," "your," "discover," and so on. But it's not about necessarily using these words – it is rather about the benefit feeling your audience should get when they see your title.

Your visitor deserves something from you before you ask something from them.

Get Their Attention

Grab Your Visitors AttentionThe main goal of the title is to get your visitors in conversation and into the first paragraph. There is no way to engage them into conversation without a proper title, opening statement. Therefore, make your point (give them value) at the very beginning of the title, not the end of it. Grab their attention at the first instant. Also have a positive connotation – offer visitors fun and not work.

BAD:     "Enter Your Details and Get Instant Access"

GOOD: "Get Instant Access by Entering Your Details"

Keyword-Rich

Use a free keyword research tool, like Google AdWords, to possibly find a good keyword phase or two (not too competitive) that you can rank for easily. Using the technique above and for better SEO (optimization) try to use the main point/phrase at the beginning of the title.

At the same time – don't keyword stuff. Don't load your title (and your content) with keywords. Google doesn't like that. Keywords in your title have to fit naturally.

Summary

Page title is extremely important if you want to get the best conversion rate for your article. In order to get the best results you should instantly grab your visitors' attention by"giving" them value and what they are looking for and engage them in conversation.
